004: What Chic Girls Wear
The perfect button-up designed with cleavage in mind, Tiffany HardWear's newest addition, summer camp themes, and more
Vin. Fishy Bag
I would like the record to show that I have been on the fish purse train!!
Vin.’s new gold brass version has been slowly creeping Substack algos, and I’m quite charmed by it. Co-founders Gabby Kono-Abdy and Claudia Li Johnson (pictured above) have cheekily offered a seamless answer to the two biggest trends I’ve been seeing on Local Chic Girls: heavy metal hardware and the return of the minaudières. They also offer a sardine and heirloom tomato version.

Flòwze Sandals
With Dorsey’s paracord collection featured in WCGW 3, it only feels right that the next logical evolution is paracord sandals. They have a sort of summer camp craft-project energy, which might be why they’re resonating: nostalgic, vaguely utilitarian, and just decorative enough.

Tory Burch Ribbed Tank Top W/ Flower
The Tory revival is fully happening—and it’s good. The shoes are consistently strong, the leather on the handbags feels genuinely elevated, and the RTW has been quietly excellent. I’ve been drawn to quite a few pieces lately, but this tank stands out: easy to wear, but it does a lot of work: adding impact without trying too hard.

Pareos and Sarongs
Y’all mind if I plug my own take on this from last September ^^^???
Fashion legend
has emerged as the leader in this trend, which is now jokingly dubbed “Substack Girl Style.” Layering a sarong or pareo over your outfit is one of those low-lift, high-reward moves that instantly makes a look more interesting. If your go-to style inspiration is… you’ll love this one: Leandra Medine Cohen

Tiffany HardWear Sunglasses
This was actually a bit shocking to me (positive) as a longtime Tiffany devotee, especially when it comes to the HardWear collection. I stumbled across these while scrolling Tiffany’s site (not via an influencer…?!), which feels surprising given how giftable they are. The price point, the visibility, the brand codes—it’s the kind of piece that seems made for a seeding list, which I’m sure is coming. I digress, but I can only assume we’ll be seeing these on Local Chic Girls imminently. I know I’m dying for a pair.

The Anteros Lief Shirt
The Anteros only has 2.8k followers on Instagram, yet nearly every Local Cool Girl I follow is talking about it. Their standout piece, the Lief shirt, comes in three colorways: this lush green, soft butter yellow, and classic white. Basics are notoriously hard to get right, but it’s clear this one was designed with real intention.
It’s tailored from 100% Italian organic cotton, finished with elongated cuffs, and (most exciting to me) goes out of its way to feature a double-button option at the center of the bust. The button-up, long borrowed from men’s tailoring, looks even sharper on women (I may be a lesbian but this is still truth), which makes it all the more surprising that this kind of thoughtful cleavage closure hasn’t become standard in women’s shirting. I want one in every color.

The Row Kid’s T-Shirts
I remember when The Row’s kids breakfast shirt went on sale at Bergdorf’s (2??) years ago and have thought about it ever since. Now it’s having its full-circle moment and seems to be all anyone on Substack can talk about. It’s a charming, offbeat piece that looks especially right with a simple sandal and fine jewelry.
Sold out nearly everywhere, but Courtney wrote about a way to an alt, and I saw someone on TikTok (can’t find the vid </3) suggested a sweet DIY route if you’ve got little ones in your life. I’m loving how nostalgic we get in the summer time!!!
Sold out… but still reporting! Keep an eye on secondhand sites.
Rejected considerations for this edition
Every so often, a trending piece comes along that I either can’t quite get behind or have missed the window to justify as a ‘fresh report’—but it still feels too present to ignore. So, in the spirit of cultural observation, here are the ones currently everywhere:
The Row red foam flip flops for $700. Please just buy Havianas, this is out of control
The Row Cecily bag… it’s like 4” of silk-satin for $1,300
Charvet slippers. I’m pretty sure I missed my moment to feature them solo, but you can find more of my thoughts and styling suggestions with Charvet slippers here
