As a Florida native, I grew up with a closet full of airy fabrics and open-toed shoes. So, when New York starts teasing us with sunshine and slightly less windy (but still 40-degree) days, it reawakens that close-to-the-Equator itch in me to wear linen and white cottons… even if they ultimately end up damp and stuck to my skin during my AC-less city commute. I still try to romanticize August heat.
Below is a list of clothes I’d like to style this summer, and maybe you will too.

A very whimsical wicker basket. I was doing some vintage digging on Etsy and came across the most charming (already sold) wicker basket in the shape of a fish. A quick search for something similar led me to Wicker Darling, a website that specializes in wicker bags in all kinds of animal shops. The Goldfish and Odette are my favorites. True vintage options include this Mercari listing or this Poshmark option.
Gucci Silk Floral Print Crop Top. My mom finally passed this down to me after I’ve been begging her for it over the last four years. I believe it’s Tom Ford. I can’t wait to style it this summer for dinner.
Banana Republic x The White Lotus Twill Fisherman Pant. Wasn’t expecting to love these, but I can’t stop thinking about them. They seem super lightweight and Subway-safe when it’s boiling underground.
A bell hat. Since most of the hats I own are more appropriate for the winter, I’m looking to invest in some summery options before June. Simple and chic $58, with a ribbon for $55, and classic for $110.
Repetto’s. I’m interested in a few styles, but the classic ballerinas are so sweet. I tend to lean a bit more feminine in the summer, and with the hope of them being comfortable, this would make for a great Sunday shoe. I love the red, burgundy (on sale!), and off-white.
Saman Amel City Moccasin. I don’t know what it is about this shoe, but I haven’t stopped thinking about it since seeing it maybe 8-10 months ago (I think from
’s IG Stories?). In light of the boat shoe resurgence, I think this is a very appropriate and non-trendy way to participate with a timeless silhouette.A light pink cotton button-up. A really nice staple I’ve been looking for second-hand for a while. I would take this in a size up/more traditional men’s fit to incorporate masculine tailoring with the femininity of the color. H&M for $25, Toteme for $440.
A polka dot maxi dress. My best friend, Brit, has been sending me links regularly since last summer, but nothing has manifested into the perfectly fitting vintage piece I’m imagining. In the meantime, these Rotate Birger Christensen and Altuzarra options are perfect.
I’ve recently been turned onto this brand called Ficcare through my research of vintage Italian and French hair clips. I am dying for the Maximas Silky 2 in the wine color… unfortunately sold out. I love the Maximas Jewel in Royal Blue, too.
10. Clear lucite jewelry. I’ve been really into bulky bangles and oversized bubble chokers lately, especially in clear lucite. I think I’ve had my eye on this listing on Chairish for over two years now. This Etsy option at $62 may work in the meantime with a matching ring, or this longer necklace.
ART OF THE WEEK

Ugh as much as I hate BR copying those fab Matteau fisherman pants (let alone in a white 🪷 collab 😣) I’ve been unable to find a replacement for the ones I wore painting 🖼️..
I ordered the BR pants in green last week! waiting for them to come!
