I find the go-to winter everyday coat to be very personal. I have a hard time alternating between outerwear; I get attached to one and wear it into the ground (this is true of basically everything I own). My daily driver (more on that below) for the last two years could definitely use a refresh to the inner lining, but to me, that’s a sign of a good investment.

I was devastated last weekend when I jumped out of a cab after two (or three) martinis and turned a corner before realizing my coat was very much still in the backseat. I hailed the cab by hand and was dropped off at my cross streets rather than my front door, so I figured it was a lost cause. With the hope only multiple Vesper’s can provide, I ran upstairs, grabbed another coat to put on (?), then went back down to find my angel of a cab driver chatting with a Park Ave doorman about where I may live. The coat was returned to me and we shared an awkwardly long embrace on the sidewalk at 2 AM. Thank you, king!

That’s all to say, take care of the hardest working piece in your closet!
